Orthodontics
Orthodontics: fixed braces and clear aligners
Crooked teeth, gaps and an uneven bite can be corrected with fixed braces or with clear aligners. Which route suits you depends on how far the teeth have to move.
What it is for
Orthodontics corrects the position of the teeth and the bite. That is not only a question of looks: teeth that do not meet properly wear unevenly, and the spots a brush cannot reach well decay more often.
The two routes
Fixed braces. Brackets are bonded to the teeth and connected by a wire. They work continuously and move teeth reliably even over longer distances.
Clear aligners. A series of transparent trays worn one after another, moving the teeth step by step. They are barely visible and come out for eating and brushing.
The aligners are made by the clinic’s own dental technician, not ordered in from a branded system.
What decides it
Not the preference alone, but the findings. For larger corrections and for changes to the bite, fixed braces are the more dependable route. For milder misalignment, aligners are a serious alternative.
With aligners there is one factor that belongs said openly: they only work while they are being worn. Taking them out often lengthens the treatment and achieves less at the end.
The process
Examination and digital measurement, then the plan with the expected duration. The active phase follows, with regular check-ups.
Once that is finished comes the stabilisation. This part is often underestimated: teeth tend to drift back towards their old position, and stabilisation is what makes the result last.
Payment
Orthodontics is the only area where the clinic offers monthly payment during ongoing treatment. Anything further is discussed at the clinic.
Questions and answers
What people ask most often
Fixed braces or clear aligners?
Fixed braces move teeth reliably even over longer distances and work around the clock. Aligners are discreet and removable, but they ask for discipline, because they only work when they are actually being worn. The examination shows which suits your case.
How long does treatment take?
Usually about a year, depending on how far the teeth have to move. After the active phase comes a period of stabilisation so the teeth hold their new position.
Do braces hurt?
After they are fitted and after each adjustment the teeth are tender to pressure for two or three days. It is uncomfortable rather than painful, and it settles on its own.
Are your aligners made by a big aligner brand?
No. The aligners are made by the clinic's own dental technician, not ordered from a branded system. Branded aligner systems belong to other manufacturers, and we do not put their names on our own work.
I live abroad. Is this workable at all?
It is more demanding, because the check-ups have to happen regularly. Talk to us beforehand so the plan can be built around the visits you actually make, rather than the treatment standing still in between.

Cosmetic dentistry: veneers, crowns, whitening
Discoloured, worn or uneven front teeth can be corrected with veneers, ceramic crowns or whitening. Which route is right depends on what we start from, and it is discussed before anything begins.
Crowns and bridges
Crowns, bridges and dentures
When a tooth is too badly broken down to fill, or missing altogether, prosthetic work restores the function. Which solution fits depends on how many teeth are missing and how much bone is there.
