Implantology
Dental implants: how they work and how they are placed
An implant is an artificial tooth root made of titanium, placed into the jawbone, with the crown fitted on top of it later. It is the only solution that replaces a lost tooth without touching the teeth beside it.
- Time for the procedure: about 15 minutes per implant
- Final crown: after 3 to 4 months
Oral surgery
Oral surgery: procedures on the jaw and the gums
Oral surgery covers everything beyond routine dental treatment: difficult extractions, wisdom teeth, bone grafting and procedures on the gums. Dr. Shehu is a specialist in oral surgery.
- Anaesthetic: local, no pain
- Technique: piezosurgery, ultrasound instead of a drill
Cosmetic
Cosmetic dentistry: veneers, crowns, whitening
Discoloured, worn or uneven front teeth can be corrected with veneers, ceramic crowns or whitening. Which route is right depends on what we start from, and it is discussed before anything begins.
- Whitening: about 1 hour, one session
- Veneers and crowns: made within about a week
Crowns and bridges
Crowns, bridges and dentures
When a tooth is too badly broken down to fill, or missing altogether, prosthetic work restores the function. Which solution fits depends on how many teeth are missing and how much bone is there.
- Laboratory time: about 1 week
- After an extraction: about 3 weeks of healing first
Orthodontics
Orthodontics: fixed braces and clear aligners
Crooked teeth, gaps and an uneven bite can be corrected with fixed braces or with clear aligners. Which route suits you depends on how far the teeth have to move.
- Treatment time: usually about 1 year
- Check-ups: usually once a month
Saving teeth
Fillings and root canal treatment
Your own tooth is always better than any replacement. As long as there is enough structure left it gets filled, and when the nerve is involved the tooth is saved with a root canal rather than taken out.
- Anaesthetic: local, no pain
- Filling: usually in one session

Equipment does not do the work on its own, but it makes the work measurable. These are in use daily.
Digital 3D scanner
Digital measurement of the teeth without a conventional impression. The work is planned to within micrometres.
Digital X-ray
A low radiation dose and an image that appears on the screen immediately.
Piezosurgery and Implant Med
Ultrasound cutting that spares the bone and the soft tissue around the working area.
Centrifuge for CGF
Growth factors concentrated from the patient's own blood, for faster healing after surgery.
